The MetaVerse is an online encyclopedia and clearinghouse for teaching and learning tools about cyberculture, cyberpunk, and contemporary technology issues. It includes many types of student and faculty resources for teaching and learning about technology and society. MetaVerse is named after the virtual-reality-driven, Internet-like space in the Neal Stephensen novel,Snow Crash.

MetaVerse runs on the LAMP platform, which is Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. It also uses MediaWiki and Blogger software.

The MetaVerse was created by Elon University faculty member Dr.Megan Conklin and an undergraduate research student, senior Daniel Hughes.
